Di seguito estratto del summary del progetto: E.M.B.R.A.C.E. (European Med-clusters Boosting Remunerative Agro-Wine Circular Economy) Priority axis-Investment Priority-Specific Objective 1-1-1 Priority Axis 1: Promoting Mediterranean innovation capacities to develop smart and sustainable growth PI 1.b 1.1 To increase transnational activity of innovative clusters and networks of key sectors of the MED area EMBRACE project aims at testing a model and related toolkit for the establishment of 2 transnational meta-clusters working on the principles and practices of the circular economy. The project, capitalizing model and instruments, will propose to Clusters, SMEs and Innovation stakeholders a set of instruments able to strongly introduce the principle of circular economy. Main territorial challenges of Embrace project are: transition to a green and competitive circular economy; promotion of resource efficiency and Eco-Innovation for a smart and sustainable growth; clusterization of the EU economy. Innovation and transnational networks are crucial for EU companies to get competitive advantages, notably in wine and agro-food sectors where risks to be exposed to a harmful dependency from other’s decisions and price fluctuations are high, and where environmental and economic issues can reduce profitability. Many agro-food chains become more and more vulnerable, e.g. on the supply and distribution side. The Eco-innovation could be a turning concept to skip weaknesses and dependancies and get competitive advantages. The difficult to measure the vulnerability of the supply chains and the benefits of Eco-innovation, together with the lack of appropriate methodologies and services available to economic operators for assess their own needs and practices, have delayed until now the widespread of viable models. One of the main barriers in transforming the benefits of Eco-Innovation into achievable advantages for EU Territories is the mismatch between companies’ business models and the resource efficiency strategies. Services and support actions for SMEs in this domain are limited in quality and number. What missing is a mix of tools and services to align the environmental burden and the generation of economic value. EMBRACE will contribute to overcome these barriers by introducing and testing a unique hybridation between the eco-design, the resource efficiency innovation and the economic value creation able to generate innovative and viable“circular business models.
